The documentary-drama film «The Giant» tells the story of the legendary British boxer of Yemeni origin, Naseem Hamed. Amir al-Masri portrays Hamed, while Pierce Brosnan plays his trainer Brendan Ingle. During his career, which spanned from 1992 to 2002, Hamed won several world titles in the featherweight division. He became famous for his spectacular ring entrances and theatrical antics. The film traces Hamed's rise from humble beginnings, focusing on his close relationship with his trainer Ingle. When Hamed's parents sent their sons to the gym to protect them from racist bullies, seven-year-old Naseem stood out thanks to his quick moves. Ingle's unorthodox training methods, combined with Hamed's talent, led them to the pinnacle of sports. However, success put their relationship to a severe test. Brosnan, during the film's premiere in London yesterday, said: «It's the story of two very ambitious men... They have a great passion to be great». The film was produced by Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone, and was written and directed by Ruan Atall, who described it as «a torn love story between a father and a son». 51-year-old Naseem Hamed attended the premiere in London but did not participate in the film's production. He said: «To be honest, this is not a story about me. It's a film about a boxer and his trainer».
